The after school program is cancelled at all sites for February 16 due to inclement weather.

Schools bring communities together. Whether you went to school there, worked there, or attended events there, a school building is often central to everything happening in the community.
Since its closure in 2021, access to the Duval building has been granted on a limited basis. This has included students and staff securing their items left behind, Lincoln County Schools (LCS) maintenance staff removing items that can still be used, and the recent auction.
When the difficult decision to close Duval PK-8 was made, many former students, teachers, community members, and others across Lincoln County began reaching out to the current Duval administration asking to take one last walk through the building. Those inquiries started a conversation about what could be done to honor the now closed building.
Due to the interest, Duval PK-8 Principal Jerry Sansom started working on an event that would allow people to take a tour of the building. Before planning the event, LCS Maintenance Director Jerry Cremeans consulted with BRIM, the LCS insurance company, to make sure a tour would be possible. After approval from BRIM, Mr. Sansom worked with the LCS Maintenance Department, LCS administrators, and the Duval PK-8 staff to put together a guided tour. Mr. Sansom and his team agreed on the name “One Last Swarm.”
To memorialize the old Duval PK-8 building at the new site, a $5 donation was going to be asked for to tour the building. However, this event was never about making money. We only wanted to give people the chance to go in the school one last time.
With that in mind, we are no longer requiring donations be made for the tour. However, if you would like, donations are going to be accepted. The shirts are still going to be for sale too, and the dates have been changed to reflect this Duval building. The dates now read 1954-2023.
We hope you see old friends and teachers during the “Last Swarm” and make one last memory at a building that means so much to all of us. We will share more information about the tour as we get closer to the event.

Since 1914, thousands of Lincoln County Students have walked the halls at Duval. If the walls could talk, they would have some great stories. Before the doors are closed for good, we are going to have "One Last Swarm." On Saturday, March 4th with a $5 donation, you can take a guided tour of the school. Tours will run from 9am - 5pm. There will also be Duval memorial t-shirts available for $20. All of the proceeds are going towards memorializing Duval at the new school. We look forward to seeing some familiar faces. We would also like to thank Duval PK-8 administration, staff, and students for working so hard to put this event together!

February is Love the Bus Month. Whether is be the drive to or from school, a class field trip, an away game, bus operators support our students and their education in many different ways.
To show our appreciation, please print off one of the pictures below, fill them out, and hand it to a bus driver who has had an impact on you or your student. Our drivers will collect these throughout the month of February. At the end of the month, we will hang all the pictures up together in the transportation office!
