Check out this new school bus stop arm we are piloting in Lincoln County. The arm is equipped with neon red lights and extends nearly 5.5 feet. Bus Gates, a parent owned Illinois based company, created this product and LCS is the first district in West Virginia using this type of stop arm extension. Our driver using the new stop arm extender loves it and feels that it does help vehicles stop sooner.
Please note that the old Duval PK-8 location is under demolition and parking at this site is not be permitted at this time. Parking will available at the athletic complex if needed. Thank you.

GVMS recently had a hoodie clothing drive at school. The school's homerooms competed to see what class could bring in the most amount of clothes to be donated. All schools in Lincoln County will be operating on a two-hour delay tomorrow, December 19th 2023.
Literary great Edgar Allan Poe, Ms. Walden's class mascot, has been roaming the GVMS halls at night looking for a new spot to hide by the time students arrive in the morning. Mr. Poe is tasking students with finding him and answer a question about literary techniques. Correct answers earn a prize. What a creative way to bring learning to life!
Faith, an Educators Rising Student at LCHS, recently led a lesson about germs for Kindergarteners at Hamlin PK8. Educators Rising is a national program for high school students interested in a career in education. Students who complete the program earn college credits towards their education degree, and they get hands on experience in a classroom.
Faith's lesson focused on the importance of not spreading germs. She read them "Sick Simon" and then students visited four stations to complete a project related to healthy habits. The students enjoyed the lesson and Faith is going to make an excellent teacher one day!

The Grinch stopped by Ranger Elementary School on Tuesday. Thankfully he didn't take anything with him, instead he read to the students! His heart must have already grown three sizes. Thank you Kelly Dial from State Farm for bringing Mr. Grinch to Ranger and making sure he was on his best behavior!

We are incredibly thankful for all the hard work the LCS Transportation Department does to getting students to and from school and everywhere in between. Last week, our transportation team won the School Bus Driver Training and Safety Award! This award is presented to school districts who have exemplary driver-training programs. Congratulations!
What a good looking bulletin board! When students in Ms. Betsi's class at Hamlin PK8 get a 100% on a test/quiz on the first try, they write their name on a post-it note and stick to the board. Keep adding those post-its Bobcats!
