🔴 #red4bp 🔴 A red wave swept through LCS last Friday for National Wear Red Day. Thank you to everyone who wore red to raise awareness for heart health and show support for BP and his family. Although a small gesture, putting on your red on National Wear Red Day means the world to those battling heart problems.

What better month than February for Love the Bus Month! Many students start and end their day on a school bus. Others ride the bus for field trips or athletics. Our transportation team works hard year around to make sure students get from Point A to Point B and back to Point A safely. The school day would not be possible without the school bus. Do you have a favorite bus driver, past or present? Give them a shoutout in the comments.

LC Auto, the high school's auto mechanic CTE program, is looking for two donated vehicles for class. The vehicles do not need to be in the best shape but they must be able to run. Mr. Burns teaches the class and says having a vehicle or two dedicated to the program will allow students to have more hands on work finding and fixing specific issues. If you can assist LC Auto in this endeavor, or point them in the right direction, contact Mr. Burns at the high school.

8th graders at Hamlin took to the sky (sort of) recently! Students took a tour of the Marshall University Bill Noe Flight School. They took a tour of the schools hangar and sat in the cockpit of the airplanes. They also had the chance to check out the flight simulator and test their skills as a pilot.

What a week! Below zero temps - Check Heavy snow accumulation - Check Here is to better (and slightly warmer) weather next week. With all of the changes this week, we would like to thank the parents/guardians of our awesome students. Whether it's rearranging a work schedule or helping with online assignments (or both), your understanding and cooperation does not go unnoticed. We would also like to thank our dedicated staff too. The winter team has been out daily assessing road conditions, teachers have been working with students online, and school personal have been taking care of our buildings and grounds. A true team effort!

January weather is here which means delays, closings, and early outs. Making the decision to alter the schedule is a team effort and involves constant communication. Below is an overview of the process LCS Superintendent, Frank Barnett, uses to determine if a change to the schedule is necessary.

Check out this new school bus stop arm we are piloting in Lincoln County. The arm is equipped with neon red lights and extends nearly 5.5 feet. Bus Gates, a parent owned Illinois based company, created this product and LCS is the first district in West Virginia using this type of stop arm extension. Our driver using the new stop arm extender loves it and feels that it does help vehicles stop sooner.
