LCS Update as of 9:43 PM - LCS has secured the necessary supplies to house students overnight. We are proceeding as if this will be the case. Thank you to all our transportation staff, school staff, central office staff, and community members who have pitched in to keep our kids safe. We will continue to monitor the situation through the night until it is safe to transport students home. Student safety remains our top priority.

LCS Update - 7:58 PM: We are beginning to prepare sleeping arrangements in the event that students and staff have to stay the night at school. School and central office staff members are providing supervision and support. We are coordinating with 911, local stores, nearby churches, and community members to gather supplies. Cots, blankets, and pillows are being secured. We continue to monitor the weather in hopes that a safe window arrives for us to transport students home. Bus operators will remain on standby through the evening and night. We appreciate your understanding and patience. Student safety continues to be our number one priority.

LCHS Message: This is an early release update for LCHS. Buses will be held for students who live in the Duval area until waters recede and it is deemed safe for bus transportation. We will provide an update when buses are released to safely transport students home. At this time students are safe in their school building.

Attached is a flyer for the November 30 Financial Aid/ FAFSA completion workshop for LCHS seniors. For Your Information: The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the key that opens the door to financial aid. It serves as the application for most of the financial aid from federal and state programs and from colleges and universities. Students can receive financial aid to pursue certificate programs (a year or less) 2-year degrees, and 4-year degree programs. West Virginia offers more than $100 million each year in financial aid for college. FAFSA is the gateway to more than $150 billion in college grants, work-study funds, and federal student loans, as well as certain state-based aid. Students Apply online at studentaid.gov

Afterschool began October 10th, attached is a flyer made by Mrs. Frazier's Panther Publishing Program that highlights the weekly schedule of Afterschool and the services that are available for all students.

Art Contest! The yearbook class would like to feature an LCHS student’s art on the cover of the yearbook. The task is to create a Music Album Cover. Try to incorporate the following: Must be square in shape as seen above. Attention Seniors! There will be a Voter's Registration Assembly on September 14th at 1:30. Students can register to vote on this day! WV Secretary of State Mac Warner and Representative Lee Dean will both be in attendance. Students must have either their driver's license or the last 4 digits of their Social Security number for voter's registration and must be 18 before November 8th of 2023.

A Well Visit, Dental & Immunizations Clinic will be held on July 29 at the Panther Center call 304-824-5806 to schedule appointment.

18 – 29 July Army JROTC Instructor LTC (Ret) Dallas Plumley will be teaching Marksmanship with Air Rifles, Archery with compound bows, and a Hunter Safety Class certified by the WV Department Natural Resources at Lincoln County High School during summer school 18 – 29 July. Successful completion can result in students receiving their WV Hunter Safety Card. If interested in attending contact LTC Plumley at dplumley@k12.wv.us to reserve your slot. Instruction will begin on the 18 of July at 0900 in the JROTC room at Lincoln County High School and end daily at 2 PM with the county providing transportation on the main road and food for morning and lunch. NHS Food Drive! The LCHS Chapter of the National Honor Society is now collecting food this week to help stock up the food bank before summer break. Please bring donations by Friday, May 20th, boxes are located at the main entrance!

ATTENTION SENIORS! See the attached flyer regarding the Senior Slideshow. Senior Maggie Ellis will be preparing the slideshow. Please submit your photos by Friday, May 20th! ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS! Do your parents have a schoology account? If your parent has not created a parent schoology account they need to do it ASAP. Parents will be able to access student grades, assignments, due dates, upcoming events, school news, contact teachers, and more. Have your parents to contact Judy Byrd at judy.byrd@k12.wv.us to get your access code. We will be having a raffle for parents that have signed up on March 28,2022. Raffle Items Include: Amazon Tablets, Portable Bluetooth speakers, portable chargers, and ear buds. The deadline to be eligible for the raffle is March 11,2022. The drawing for the raffle will be held on March 28,2022. You can sign up for schoology after March 11,2022 but you will not be eligible for the raffle. A message from Principal, Polly Smith: Change in dates for trimester exams: Losing today's instructional day has made it difficult for teachers and students to be prepared for exams on Monday. New dates for trimester exams are as follows: Tuesday, Feb. 22- Periods 2, 4, and 6 Wednesday, Feb. 23- Periods 3 and 5 We will not have an official "make-up" day for exams. Students will need to use lab time on Thursday and Friday to take missed exams. ALL students should do their BEST to be present on exam days.
