Lincoln County Schools Launches “Lincoln County Gives Project” to Support Students in Need

Lincoln County Schools has launched the Lincoln County Gives Project, a community gift registry designed to collect dry goods and non-perishable items to support students and families facing food insecurity during the current government situation.

For years, the district’s Backpack Program has provided free weekend snack bags to any student who needs them, ensuring that children have something to eat when school meals aren’t available. Now, with an increased need across the county, the school system is expanding its efforts by creating an easy way for community members to give directly.

Through the Lincoln County Gives Project registry, donors can purchase items such as cereal, canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, and other shelf-stable foods. Every contribution goes straight toward restocking the shelves that keep our Backpack Program running strong through weekends, holidays, and long breaks.

“Lincoln County has always been a community that takes care of its own,” said Danielle Adkins, Head Cook at Lincoln County High School. “This project gives everyone a way to lend a hand and make a real difference for our students.”

If your family is in need of food assistance, please reach out to one of the following staff members at your child’s school so we can ensure your family has what it needs:

  • Duval PK-8: Kennedi Weed or Angela Sansom

  • Guyan Valley Middle School: Shelley Kveton or Johnna Treadway

  • Hamlin PK-8: Katie Davidson or Sophia Newsome

  • Harts PK-8: Kim Socha or Julia Abbott

  • Lincoln County High School: Judy Byrd or Kerri Smith

  • Midway Elementary: Beth Clay or Angie Teitsworth

  • West Hamlin Elementary: Missy Hoover or Tammy Bartram

To join the effort and give back, visit the Lincoln County Gives Project registry and select items to donate. Together, we can make sure every student has what they need — not just in the classroom, but at home too.
