Lincoln County High School Nomination for Lincoln County Schools Teacher of the Year

Kimberly Chapman Cook is a music educator at Lincoln County High School in Hamlin, WV. In addition to being the band director, she also teaches music appreciation, dance, and piano to students in grades 9-12. After graduating from Guyan Valley High School, Cook earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in music education K-12 from Marshall University. She has worked in the Lincoln County school system her entire career, starting at Harts Junior/Senior High School, then Hamlin Junior/Senior High School, before coming to Lincoln County High School when the school opened in August 2006. During her 37 years of teaching, Cook has taught students in grades 5-12. In addition to the classes she currently teaches, she has also taught choir and beginning level band. Cook has mentored several student teachers, guest conducted several honor bands, served on various committees for her schools and community, and currently serves as related arts department head and leadership team member at Lincoln County High School. Her concert bands have consistently earned superior ratings at state festivals and her marching bands have won numerous awards. Her band programs are well represented in the WV All-State Band and multiple honor bands.
